Hi there! My name is Steven May. I’m a lighting designer, audio-visual technician and videographer and I’ve worked tech roles in many spheres of live events, including theatre, dance, burlesque, music and corporate production. I have regularly engaged work with Brisbane Convention Centre, Brisbane Powerhouse as well many venues and schools throughout Brisbane with High Noon Stage Productions.

Over the past couple of years, my attention has turned to found-space theatre and arts, having provided equipment and technician expertise to shows in Brisbane Comedy Festival, MELT, Anywhere Theatre Festival, Backbone Festival as well as other independent theatre productions around South-East Queensland.

The goal of this recent work has been to build a production business with focus on smaller shows and unconventional arts built in unconventional spaces. This can be seen with my involvement in various independent theatre shows with NDRNCE Theatre and Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre as well as burlesque events with Bombshell Burlesque, Red Room Revue, Cult and Chevron Showgirls.

I thrive in unique and challenging work environments, providing comprehensive services to add technical production to events that can be difficult without the correct expertise. Additionally, my ability to work in a multidisciplinary role with lighting, audio and AV in combination leads to more cohesive production and design decisions, as well as more interconnected implementations in practice across a wide scope of productions.
